SL Japan Asset Management’s in-depth expertise covers all areas of investment, development, and operational management of retail and hotel assets. Our current team has strong track record in providing investment advisory and asset management services to international investors in the Japanese real estate market. Our advantage is our extensive market network. We strive to contribute to regional revitalization in Japan by presenting innovative proposals in order to maximize the value of retail and hotel assets.

In tha retail real estate business, as we navigate this new era of e-commerce, we continue to focus on our tenants’ needs as we maximize the value of retail assets. We will also establish our own retail-related new business according to the needs of the market. By taking this multi-pronged approach, we aim to create attractive retail shopping malls for investors, tenants, and visitors.

In the hospitality real estate business, we will create accommodation facilities(hotels and Japanese Ryokan), not only in the large urban area, but rather in local/regional towns and cities with rich tourism resources to attract inbound visitors. We also work with the regional cities to develop contents and to raise the profile of and promote the regional cities as tourist destinations. With our broad experience in the areas of development and operation of global luxury hotels, we aim to support the regional revitalizations of Japan through Sustainable Tourism.

Overview

The company was initially incorporated as a 100% subsidiary of Shangri-La Group to undertake Asset Management and Project Management of new hotel development in Kyoto, Japan. In April 2021, SL Japan Asset Management became independent from the Shangri-La Group through a Management Buy-Out.
While we continue to provide Asset Management and Project Management services to Shangri-La Group in Japan, we are also expanding our business activities to provide Investment Advisory and Asset Management services in retail and hotel assets to other global and domestic investors.

CEO Kek Chee How started his career in Singapore Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Subsequently, he was Country Head of Japan for Asia’s leading real estate developer and a global luxury hotel brand, developing a thorough knowledge on a wide range of asset types including retail, office, residential and hotel in the Japan real estate market.
Building on our strong track record in delivering real estate solutions across hotel investment and management, and also providing value-add management services for retail assets, we aim to be a bridge for global investors seeking investment opportunities in Japan.
